1991

  • The Ministry of Education, Science, Sports, and Culture started the Human Genome Project and Human Genome Center (Laboratory of Genome Database) was established as its standard-bearer.

1992

  • Laboratory of Structure Genomics started.

  • A prefabricated building of the center was completed.

1993

  • A super parallel computer system was introduced.

  • Laboratory of DNA Information Analysis started.

1996

  • The MESSC human genome project proceeded from its first stage to the second stage.

  • Laboratory of Molecular Medicine and Laboratory of Genome Technology started.

1997

  • The main building of Human Genome Center was completed.

  • A supercomputer system for genome informatics was introduced.

2000

  • Laboratory of Sequence Analysis and Laboratory of Functional Analysis in silico started.

2003

  • The building of multidisciplinary research was completed.

2006

  • Department of Public Policy started.

2007

  • Division of Systems Biomedical Technology started.

2009

  • The supercomputer system "Shirokane1" was introduced.

2011

  • Division of Interactome Medical Sciences started.

2012

  • The supercomputer system "Shirokane2" was introduced.

2015

  • The supercomputer system "Shirokane3" was introduced.

2017

  • The supercomputer system "Shirokane4" was introduced.

2019

  • The supercomputer system "Shirokane5" was introduced.
